Our Palís Place (OPP) Education Program is geared toward interaction with schools and scouts in the area to help find a solution to pet overpopulation. Our mission is to educate children and adults about current animal welfare issues that exist and what they can to do help.
Our programs include school visits, tours/visits of the OPP facilities and interactive instruction at the Sniffles Learning Center
, located at Our Palís Place.
We strive to share our message in a positive way and tailor the content to ensure age-appropriate presentations combined with games and other activities. If schools permit, our volunteers are able to bring dogs on site to enhance the interactive learning experience. Current school messages include:
Our Pals Place: An overview and introduction to the organization, the volunteers and the Residents
Spay and Neuter: The Myths, The Facts and the Wonderful Benefits
Puppy Mills: The benefits of adoption versus shopping
SCOUT & BROWNIE PROGRAMS (Service Projects and Creative Donations)
Scout & Brownie Troop Programs begin with a brief introduction to the organization and our safety practices. The group then tours the facility and meets the residents of O.P.P.
∑ Sponsor an OPP Resident: Your group will select one of the dogs at Our Palís Place to receive your donation. Funds donated will go toward your choice of a dogís veterinary needs.
ß Save a Heart Campaign: Treatment for Heartworm Positive Dogs
ß Spay or Neuter a dog in need: All residents of OPP are spayed/neutered to improve their overall quality of life.
ß Vaccinations: All residents of OPP are fully vetted, including their annual vaccines.
Receive updates on your dog as he/she is on the road to a clean bill of health and ultimately finding their forever home.
∑ Community Service Projects:
ß Bake Sale: Sell home-made dog treats to raise money for your favorite animal(s) at OPP.
ß Store front appearance: Your group will run an off-site event to help promote Our Palís Place to the public.
ß Wishlist Donation Drive: Collect food, treats and other items needed to help keep the residents of Our Palís Place happy and healthy while they wait for their forever home. Please speak with Nicole Perez before proceeding with a food/treat collection so we can give you a list of approved food brands and toys.
