Adoption Application Process
Thank you for your interest in the dogs of O.P.P.!
Finding our dogs their “forever home”…
Throughout the adoption application process, Our Pal’s Place will act in accordance with what we feel is in the best interest of our dogs. Our decisions are based on what we know about our dog’s temperament, background and current needs. If multiple applications are received for a dog, we will review all applications equally vs accepting the first application. All decisions are made jointly by the Adoption Management Team.
Other animals in your home…
If you have other pets in your home, either our professional trainer, Sandy Adcock, or an experienced adoption team member will assist with introductions.
Vetting & Adoption Fees
- Adult Dog (older than 9 months): $150 - includes vaccinations, rabies and spay/neuter
- Puppy (9 months or younger): $200 – includes puppy vaccinations completed as of the time of adoption and spay/neuter
3 Step Application Process:
- Step 1: Complete Adoption Application
The purpose of our application is to give the Adoption Management Team insight into the home environment and family lifestyle to determine if it is appropriate for our dog’s needs.
- Step 2: Review & Respond To All Adoption Applications
The Adoption Management Team reviews all applications submitted by Sunday evening at 6:00pm. A representative from the Adoption Management Team will call you by the Wednesday following our Sunday evening meeting. We will either request a home visit OR explain why we do not believe it is in our dog’s best interest to move forward with the adoption.
- Step 3: Conduct a Home Visit
If the Adoption Management Team believes there is a potentially good fit with your home and our dog, we will schedule a home visit at your convenience. The purpose of the home visit is to further ensure a good match with your home and our dog.
Adoption Process:
If the home visit ensures that your home and our dog are a good fit and will result in a successful adoption, we will proceed with the adoption process:
- Sign an adoption contract
- Collect the adoption fee
- Provide you adoption support services
